Freshman Brittany Ricedorf lives for swimming. Her parents got her interested in the sport when she was five-years-old, and she’s been swimming ever since.

In 2004 and 2006 Ricedorf competed in the Junior Olympics for swimming in New Jersey.

“It was a really good experience,” she said.

While there she took part in the 50 Freestyle, 100 Freestyle, and 200 I.M [Individual Medley], 100 Backstroke, and 100 Breaststroke.

At the Junior Olympics, she placed 15 out or 300.

Ricedorf’s favorite stroke is the Butterfly.

“When I was really little I was really bad at it [Butterfly], but now it’s my best stroke,” she said.

Ricedorf’s least favorite stroke is the Backstroke.

“I don’t like it because I can’t see where I’m going,” she said.

On the high school team, she does the 50 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly, Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle Relay and 100 Backstroke.

“She’s a really good swimmer. She is really dedicated,” freshman Giordano Pugliese said.

Ricedorf said she really enjoys the team and the people.

She is a pert of the Elizabethtown Aquatic Club and the Mount Joy Swim Team, in addition to the school team.

Other than swimming, Ricedorf participates in cross country and track.

Junior Sam Hockley said, “She [Ricedorf] is really impressive for this being her first year and [being] a freshman.”

Ricedorf swims 12.5 hours every week. “She is a good swimmer. She’s one of the better swimmers on the team,” sophomore Brendan Demmy said. “Her best quality is that she has great sportsmanship.”

Ricedorf said she plans to go to Tampa University in Florida on a swimming scholarship after she graduates.

“I want to major in sports medicine because I love sports,” she said.
